DECEMBER 2011 MEETING

Town Board member Paul Cooper led the Evans Democratic Club in the Pledge of Allegiance at the December meeting.  The Club also held its annual Christmas party and members brought donations for the VFW's annual holiday food drive.

The Club's annual election was held and the 2012 officers are: president: Michelle Parker; vice-president: Patti Latimore; treasurer: Karen Connors Erickson; co-recording secretaries: Kathy Bartus and Kathy Karyczak; corresponding secretary: Dawn Casali; sergeant-at-arms: Bob Heath; and director: Mike Karyczak.  The Club also voted to accept the various changes to the by-laws developed by the 2011 By-law Review committee.

Deputy Supervisor Paul Cooper reminded everyone that the Recycling Committee has a collection box at the Town Hall for your Christmas cards once the holidays are over.  The cards are sent to St. Jude's Ranch for Children where they are turned into Christmas ornaments.

Town Clerk Jonica DiMartino reported that the Town's new website will be unveiled in January.  The website is funded in its entirety by the fee revenue from the School Tax Collection with a surplus of fee revenue still existing from the collection.  That fee revenue was formerly retained as additional salary by the Receiver of Taxes, before that position was consolidated with that of Town Clerk.  There will be a computer terminal in the Town Hall for public access.

Town Chair Robert "Bob-Cat" Catalino reported that there will be petitions available for those interested in running as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention.  That event will be held in late August in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina.  The Club will hold a casino run to Seneca-Niagara on Sunday, March 25, 2012.  The Southtowns Democratic organization will holds its awards dinner on Sat., April 28, 2012, at the VFW in Evans.

Club members in the North Evans fire district were reminded to vote following the Club meeting.  The January meeting will be held on the third Tuesday of the month, on January 17, 2012 at the VFW starting at 7:30 p.m.  The installation of officers will take place at that meeting.
