Democratic Club Holds October Meeting

The Evans Democratic Club held its October pre-election meeting at the VFW. Reports from elected officials included a report from Town Board member Karen Connors Erickson. She talked about the Hike-Bike path project which will draw people to the Town's waterfront.

"Fran Pordum knows the people in Albany and the channels that successful towns work through. With him as Supervisor, we'll eliminate months of footwork needed to get the necessary funding."

Recent ads from Republican opponents have talked about qualifications for Town jobs. "Ever since [present Supervisor] Rob Catalino was elected, and under a Democratic-majority board, people from all political stripes have been hired: unaffiliateds, Democratic, Republican, Independence and Conservatives. Back in the Republican days, that was not the case – it was ‘Democratic workers need not apply.’ No more. The Democrats have hired people regardless of their political affiliation. The only thing that matters is qualifications."

Town Clerk Carol Meissner thanked Board members Mrs. Erickson, Paul Cooper and Kathleen Bartus, for ensuring the Town publishes the polling places before election day. "The Board of Elections won't do it. They'll only publish a list of polling locations in Buffalo, not in the towns. It's a real service that the Town gets this information out there, so the resident know where to go to vote."

Mayor Howard "Hub" Frawley addressed the Club and announced his endorsement for the Pordum-Partridge-Cooper team. "Fran Pordum will do a great job. Paul Cooper is already doing a great job, and Tom Partridge will be great on his return to the Board."

Club members can come to the VFW for the results of the election on Tuesday, November 6 18, at 9 p.m. The next meeting of the Club will take place on Tuesday, November 20, 7:30 p.m. at the VFW on Route 5. Interested in joining? Then you are welcome to come to a meeting.

Pordum and Barone, along with Paul Cooper and Tom Partridge, are the Democratic-endorsed slate for the Town election on November 6. Pordum is also endorsed by the Independence and Working Families parties.
