Angola's newest village Trustee, Annmarie Tubinis, led the Evans Democratic Club in the Pledge of Allegiance to open the March meeting, held at the VFW on Tuesday the 18th.  Tubinis was recently appointed by the Hon. Howard "Hub" Frawley, Mayor of Angola. 

Club president Jonica DiMartino presided over the meeting.  Picnic chair Bob Catalino announced that the summer picnic will be held on Sunday, August 17, at the Evans Town Park.  Be sure to mark your calendar for the picnic and for locating some treasure in your attic for Neno's Auction held by Anthony "Neno" LaRusso.  Fundraising Chair Mark Parker announced a meeting of the Fundraising Committee on Saturday, March 29 at 10 a.m.   

Elected officials in attendance at the Club meeting included County Legislator Bob Reynolds, Town Clerk Carol Meissner, and Town Councilmembers Karen Connors Erickson and Paul Cooper.   The Club was updated on the status of Town water infrastructure projects, the hike-bike path project, and the Town-wide reassessment.  The reassessment involved looking at the 9,000 parcels in the Town and assessing at market value in order to comply with New York State law.  Homeowners have been obtaining appointments to discuss their concerns about the changes.  The town tax rate will be reduced in accordance with the re-val so that townwide tax receipts remain about the same. 

The Club thanked Erie County Legislator Bob Reynolds and club member Matt Rzepka, for their donations of $50 towards the first prize for the March 2008 Irish Hooley raffle.  In an ironic twist, Fundraising chair Mark Parker won the first prizer: $100 in lottery tickets.  As this went to press, Mark is still scratching away.  Fran Pordum won the bottle of Bailey's, and Ross Guarino won the 4-pack of Guinness. 

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at 7:30 at the VFW on Route 5 near Jubilee.  Please attend if you are interested in joining.
