MAY 2008 MEETING

Ken Case, a candidate for District Attorney of Erie County, led the pledge of allegiance at the May meeting of the Evans Democratic Club.  Case worked as an Assistant District Attorney for 14 years, including 7 on the Homicide Bureau.  He was the lead prosecutor in the the 2007 trial of the Bike Path rapist.  He discussed his goal of making sure that law enforcement and the DA's office work together for the benefit of public safety.

The Club thanked Fran Pordum for donating the cost of the 2008 picnic tickets.  The Club's picnic will take plave on Sunday, August 17, at 1 p.m., at the Evans Town Park.  Get your treasures ready for "Neno's Auction."  Auctioneer Neno LaRusso will preside over this annual event at the picnic, where trash turns into treasure. 

Town Chair Bob Catalino reported on that day's events at Erie County Democratic headquarters.  The County organization  has endorsed Frank Sedita III in the race for District Attorney.  In addition to Ken Case, another announced candidate is former assistant DA Diane LaValle.

Reports of elected officials were presented by Supervisor Fran Pordum, Deputy Supervisor Karen Connors Erickson, Town Board member Paul Cooper, and Village Trustee AnnMarie Tubinis.  Pordum described a meeting he and Ms. Erickson attended with NFTA officials, as the Town seeks to locate a park-and-ride in the Town of Evans.

The next meeting has a Bring-A-Friend theme.  Please bring a friend who would like to become a registered Democrat, or who is a Democrat and would like to become a member of the Club.  The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 17th, at the Evans VFW Post 5798, starting at 7:30 p.m.
