June 2008 Meeting
Frank Sedita III, the
Democratic-endorsed candidate for District
Attorney of Erie County, thanked the committee
members who are carrying his petitions in the
Town of Evans at the June meeting of the Evans
Democratic Club. Sedita has worked as an
Assistant District Attorney for 20 years,
representing the people of the State of New York
and the County of Erie. He's tried all kinds
of cases with a 97% conviction rate. A Democrat
since the day he turned 18, he has been honored
as the top trial prosecutor in New York State,
the first assistant DA from WNY to receive this
honor.
State Supreme Court candidate Tracey Bannister
made the Evans meeting her first 2008 campaign
stop. Ms. Bannister is an acting Village
Justice in Kenmore and has served for 19 years
as confidential law clerk to the Hon. Jerome
Gorski, a State Supreme Court Justice. Eugene
Gaughan, Esq. of Point Breeze in
Angola, former Evans Town Justice, will
be her campaign treasurer. Ms. Bannister is
running for the seat opened by the retirement of
Hon. Amy Fricano.
The Club welcomed new
members: Charles Danzi, Jerry Ann Keohane,
Antoinette Pinter, Theodore Catalano, and Mark
Postle. Reports of
elected officials were presented
by Deputy Supervisor Karen Connors Erickson, and
Town Board member Paul Cooper.
The Club's picnic will take
place on Sunday, August 17, at 1 p.m., at the
Evans Town Park. Get your treasures ready for "Neno's
Auction." Auctioneer Neno LaRusso will preside
over this annual event at the picnic, where
trash turns into treasure.
The next meeting will be held
on Tuesday, July 15th, at the Evans VFW Post
5798, starting at 7:30 p.m. A committee will be
developed to assess and update the bylaws. New
members are welcome, and current members are
encouraged to continue the "Bring A Friend"
effort.
