Town Board member Paul
Cooper introduced the Hon. Jeannette Ogden,
candidate for the Family Court of Erie
County, to the members at the July meeting
of the Evans Democratic Club. Judge
Ogden discussed her background as a judge,
prosecutor, trial attorney, and working with
families, including as an acting Family
Court judge.
Town Chair Bob Catalino
thanked former Lakeshore teacher Jim
McBridge and former Lakeshore student Dr.
Wesley Hicks, M.D., for arranging for Judge
Ogden's visit. He congratulated the efforts
of local volunteers who collected 650
signatures on nominating petitions for
county and regional candidates. The local
Democratic Committee will have committeeman
candidates for each of the Town's 17 voting
districts.
The Club welcomed new
members: Tom Glascott and Cindy Glascott. Reports
of
elected officials were presented
by Town Supervisor Fran Pordum, Deputy
Supervisor Karen Connors Erickson, Town
Board member Paul Cooper, and Town Clerk
Carole Meissner. Preparations are being
made for a groundbreaking this fall for the
Hike-Bike path. Club president Jonica
DiMartino noted that there are voter
registration forms at the Town Clerk's
office.
Town Chair Bob Catalino
talked about preparation for the Club's
picnic on Sunday,
August 17, at 1 p.m., at the Evans
Town Park. People with donations for "Neno's
Auction" should bring the items to the
picnic. Lynn Stossel outlined the
activities for kids that will be available
for this year's picnic.
The next meeting
will be held a week earlier than usual -- on
Tuesday, August 12th, at the Evans
VFW Post 5798, starting at
7:30 p.m. New members are welcome,
and current members are encouraged to
continue the "Bring A Friend" effort.
