August 2008 Meeting The Club's picnic will be held this Sunday, August 17, at 1 p.m. at the Evans Town Park.  Please start bring donations for "Neno's Auction" at noon.  Kids Activities chair Lynn Stoessel will have water balloon sling shots, face painting, bean bag toss, potato sack races, crafts, watermelon eating contest, potato sack races, and a kiddie treasure hunt.  Kids 12 and under are free; adults are $10 and seniors $8; for tickets, call Bob Catalino at 549-1539.  At the August meeting, the Club recognized the following donors: John Latimore -- straw for the treasure hunt; Connors Hot Dogs -- prizes for the treasure hunt; Paul Cooper -- backboard for the water balloon slingshot; Matt Rzepka - donation of the sound system; Mark Byrne of Vanner Insurance -- the snow cone machine and ice for same. The following new members were welcomed: Jerry Grosso, sponsored by Joe Catalano, and Wesley Hicks Jr, MD, sponsored by Paul Cooper.  Reports of elected officials were presented by Town Supervisor Fran Pordum, Deputy Supervisor Karen Connors Erickson, Town Board member Paul Cooper, and Town Clerk Carole Meissner.  The Hike-Bike Path groundbreaking this fall will be for Phase One, from Wendt Beach to the Evans Town Park.  This month's Town Board public meeting will be held a week early, on Wed., August 13. Plans are underway for a Tailgate Party for the Bills Game on Sunday, September 28 at the American Legion Post No. 928 in Derby.  The Bills will be at St. Louis, with kickoff at 4:05 p.m.  Mark your calendar for the Club's Halloween Party on Saturday, October 25 at the Legion.  The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Evans VFW Post 5798, starting at 7:30 p.m.
