Evans Town Clerk Carol Meissner swore in the 2009 officers at the January meeting held at the VFW Post.  The 2009 officers are:  Michelle Parker, president; Patti Latimiore, vice-president; Dawn Csati, treasurer; Gert Jerozal, corresponding secretary; Kathy Barus and Kathy Karyczak, co-recording secretaries; and Directors: Karen Erickson, Mark Parker and Ross Guarino.

Reports of elected officials were presented.  Town Supervisor Fran Pordum talked about the upcoming property tax notices, and that 70% of Town property owners will see a tax decrease.  He described efforts to control expenses, including a freeze on salaries for the supervisor and board members, and no out-of-county travel. 

Deputy Supervisor Karen Erickson discussed the status of Wal-mart, reliance at Town Hall on part-time personnel to decrease personnel costs, and the Hike-Bike path.  She credited the county for their efforts to work with the Town on the Hike-Bike path.  Councilman Paul Cooper talked about a grant obtained by the Town court for installation of metal detectors, and the 2008 successes achieved for the Town by Director of Community Development, Lori Szewczyk.  

Village mayor Howard "Hub" Frawley discussed a recent conference call with Governor Patterson and other members of the Executive Commitee of the New York Conference of Mayors, regarding infrastructure grants.  He discussed development in the Village, including the work at the Goya plant and the forthcoming senior housing.  He credited the efforts of the Village Planning Board's Jonica DiMartino regarding ideas for People Inc. that will be helpful to the housing project design.

Following club business, meeting attendees marked the occasion of the presidential inauguration.  The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2009.
