LETTER TO THE EDITOR OF HAMBURG SUN

Dan Meyer

Editor
The Hamburg Sun

Dear Dan:

Voters have been well-served with Democratic/Conservative Bob Reynolds as the Legislator for the 12th District.  Remember the Giambra red-and-green budgets?  Four years ago the Southtowns voters elected Reynolds after that fiasco.

With Reynolds, the Southtowns have a leader.  He recently he became Chair of the Legislature's Finance & Management Committee.  That's no surprise -- his prior resume was all about community leadership.  Before running for public office, his coworkers elected him to union posts; his neighbors elected him to the Hamburg School Board; and he served on the Hamburg Planning Board.

With Reynolds, the Southtowns have a taxpayer watchdog.  In 2009 he fought the county executive Collins' proposed tax increase (so Collins calls him an "obstructionist".)  That Reynolds is a bulldog on taxes is no surprise.  Before running for office, he served in the Hamburg United Council Taxpayer Association and the Scranton/McKinley Taxpayer Association.

With Reynolds, we have a legislator who values the Southtown's rural character.  That's why he was named "Elected Official of the Year" by the Southtown's Walleye Association.  He received the "Voice of Erie County Agriculture Award" from the Erie County Farm Bureau.  He received honors from the 2008 Bassmaster Elite Series. the Hamburg Natural History Society, and numerous other groups.  And he went battled county legislators in his own party when he voted "No" on creating a county-wide advisory planning board.

A vote for Bob Reynolds means "no" to tax increases and "yes" to the Southtowns.  That's why he's been endorsed by the Democratic and Conservative parties, and that's why voters should re-elect him on November 3rd.

Thank you,

Michelle Parker
