The 2010 installation of Evans town officials was held at the Town Hall on the first day of the New Year.  Former Town Board member and Evans Democratic Trustee Karen Connors Erickson was the master of ceremonies for the event.  The Pledge of Allegiance was led by the three DiMartino girls: Madelyne, Jenna and Kate.

The oath of office was administered by Michael G. Cooper, Eden Town Justice.  Each of the town officials gave a solemn oath to “defend the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of the state of New York, and the laws of the state of New York and the Town of Evans.”

The oath was undertaken first by new Evans Town Clerk, Jonica DiMartino, who previously served as Deputy Town Clerk.  She is a past trustee of the Village of Angola and past president of the Evans Democratic Club.  Flanked by her three daughters, her husband Brad, and her parents Ron and Gloria, DiMartino swore to faithfully execute the duties of her office.

The oath was then given to longtime Evans Justice Timothy Cooper, who has served in this capacity since 1985.  He took the oath with his wife Donna at his side.  The last oath was given to Highway Superintendent Edward Michalski, accompanied by his wife Nancy and his family.

Karen Erickson closed the installation.  She remarked that “it is a great privilege to have elections.  When the election is over, then its all about the Town of Evans, the town that all of us love and the town that all of us live in.”  A coffee and cookie reception was held afterwards in the atrium of the Town Hall.
