Village Mayor Hub Frawley led the Club in the Pledge of Allegiance at the March meeting of the Evans Democratic Club.  Candidates for the 146th District Assembly seat spoke to the Club about their candidacy.  This include Mike Amodeo of Lakeview, a local attorney, and Daniel Kozub of Hamburg, the County legislator for the First District.

The Club recognized member John Latimore and his sister Patti Latimore for the great job they did on the annual March Hooley raffle.  Kathy Hochul, the Erie County Clerk, donated $100 in lottery scratchoffs, which was won by Ken Fox.  Karen Connors Erickson donated a bottle of Bailey's Irish Creme, which was won by Mike Franey.   John Latimore donated a 12-pack of Guiness beer, which was won by Ross Guarino.

The 2010 annual picnic planning is underway.  It looks like the date will be Saturday, August 8, but this is not finalized.  There was discussion about a golf tournament in the summertime.  A new club member was welcomed: Dawn Casali of Derby.

Reports of elected officials were presented by Town Clerk Jonica DiMartino and Angola Mayor Howard "Hub" Frawley.  DiMartino noted that the Town employees proceeds from the Dress-Down Fridays were split among 6 local not-for-profits.  The Clerk's office just passed a surprise audit by the County Comptroller's office. 

Mayor Frawley discussed the new Crosby's which opened in the Village this month.  The senior housing complex is up and running with about 24 units filled; the remaining 5 units are expected to be filled soon.  The village garage sale will be held on June 5; on that same date, a film crew is looking to come to the village to shoot scenes for a locally made movie.

Town Chair Robert "Bob-Cat" Catalino reminded everyone to fill out their census form.  The key for reapportionment and resources is to complete your census form.  The people count gets government attention and resources to the Town of Evans.     

The April meeting will be held at the VFW on Tuesday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m.  A picnic committee will be developed at the April meeting.
