Committeeman Paul "P.J." McNaughton led the Club in the Pledge of Allegiance at the July meeting of the Evans Democratic Club. Reports of elected officials were presented by Deputy Supervisor Paul Cooper and Town Clerk Jonica DiMartino. Cooper outlined the hard work done by members of the Evans Police Department associated with the Fourth of July weekend. He commended Angola mayor Howard "Hub" Frawley for the work through the Herman Park enhancement project. DiMartino outlined the status of efforts to set up a bank location for payment of school taxes. This would permit people to pay taxes during the bank's hours, in addition to Town Hall hours. Town Chair Robert "Bob-Cat" Catalino discussed the upcoming picnic on Sunday, August 8 at the Evans Town Park, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Club members signed up to bring dishes to share at the event. Neno LaRusso, Chair of the Town's Veterans Affairs Committee, will run the annual "Neno's Auction" at the picnic. Catalino commended Club member Bob Beck to the job he did coordinating the Taste of Evans. This was held at the Town Park on Sunday, July 18. There was a great turn-out for the event, which included a Chinese auction, the Evans Idol contest, a Cute Baby Photo contest, and plenty of food. The August meeting will be held at the VFW on Tuesday, August 17, at 7:30 p.m. copyright©2006-09 Evans Democratic Club |
