Pordum, Partridge, Cooper, Barone Evans Democratic Chair Bob Catalino, Sr., announced the Evans Democratic Committee's endorsements for Town Supervisor and Board members. "For the 2007 Board, it's 'Pordum, Partridge, Cooper.' We are pleased to endorse Fran Pordum for Town Supervisor. For Town Board, the Committee endorses the candidacy of Tom Partridge and the re-election of Paul Cooper. We are also honored to endorse Justice Anthony Barone, for his return to the bench as Town Justice." Candidates were selected at a Committee meeting on Thursday, April 19 and formally announced on Friday, April 20 at Town Supervisor Rob Catalino's Kick off to Summer Party at Captain Kidd's Beach Club. More than 400 people were in attendance to welcome the Summer season, support the candidates and cheer as the Buffalo Sabres defeated the NY Islanders. Candidate for
Supervisor: Fran Pordum He is a retired teacher and coach; a graduate of Colgate University, he earned a Masters and an advanced degree in supervision and administration from Buff State. He and his wife, Becky, reside in Derby and he is the father of Carolyn. Becky Pordum is a math teacher in the City of Buffalo and the Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library. "I will use my knowledge and experience of local government, to run an open government that is responsive and accessible to the people." promised Pordum. "I've lived here for 15 years and represented Evans for 14 years in the Assembly. Evans is a great place to live; with your support, together we will make it a better place to live." Candidate for
Board Member: Tom Partridge A technology teacher at Gowanda High School, he is a graduate of Lake Shore High School, and was awarded a bachelor's and master's degree from Buffalo State College. He previously served on the Town Board in the late 1990s, during which he spearheaded an update to the Town's Master Plan, brought the Carson & Barnes circus to Angola, and developed a process for auction of surplus Town equipment. "When I was on the Board previously I was the liason for the Town's insurance. By the fourth year, the Town's insurance costs were reduced by approximately $400,000," Partridge outlined. "I had pledged to keep people informed of issues and did, so by writing articles for the local papers. I intend to do that this time too." Candidate for
Board Member: Paul Cooper He is a graduate of Lake Shore High School, received a bachelor's degree in broadcasting from Buffalo State College and is an accredited certified radio marketing consultant. He chairs the Zoning Board of Appeals for the village of Angola, is active in several community programs, and is a former member of the North Evans Volunteer Fire Company. "I am honored that the voters chose me last November, and its been a privilege to serve the Town. I’ve taken the lead on Town recycling and we had a great Earth Day effort," reported Cooper. "I have been spearheading local legislation to aid our volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers via state income tax credits, and there will be a public hearing on Wed., May 2nd. Have also been working with TLC Healthcare for a free health screening for Evans seniors and to promote the importance of TLC in this community." Democratic candidates Pordum, Partridge and Cooper will be campaigning throughout the next several months. The election will take place on Tuesday, November 6, 2007.
