Elected Officials Speak to Evans Democratic Club At the May meeting of the Evans Democratic Club, president Jonica DiMartino introduced elected officials who were present. Evans Town Councilman Kathleen Bartus reported that the first informational meeting about the reassessment was held. "This went very well -- there were a lot of good questions. The Assessor Jeanne C. Ebersole and people from GAR Associates answered the questions and alleviated a lot of concerns. We were impressed by how helpful the Assessor's office was to the residents." Deputy Supervisor Karen Connors Erickson discussed the new 20-year water project. "This will mean construction for a new water tower, installation of new lines, new fire hydrants, new meters, and better water pressure for fire-fighting. It is a proactive project for Evans' future. Our community will be safer, and it preserves our ability to continue future development." The eight employees of the current Water Department will be absorbed into the Town's Department of Public Works. "As a 20-year project, there will still be a lot of work for them to do. It will help the Town residents to have their knowledge and expertise readily available as this goes forward," noted Mrs. Erickson. Save the date: the Town Club's annual picnic is on Sunday, August 5th at 1 p.m., at Evans Town Park. The Evans Democratic Club exists to assist the Democratic Committee to recruit, elect, and support good leaders to govern and guide this community. If you are Democrat and interested in joining the Democratic Club for the Town of Evans, then come to the next meeting. The website is at www.evansdemocratic.org. The next meeting of the Evans Democratic Club is on Tuesday, June 19, 7:30 p.m. at the VFW Post 5798, 8989 Erie Road in Angola. copyright©2006 Evans Democratic Club |
